Each year, the Nashville Business Journal opens nominations for professionals younger than 40 who are making a difference in their company, field or community. I was nominated for the 2015 class.

The 2014 NEXT Awards recognize what's NEXT in the entrepreneurial landscape of Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Nashville is a hotbed for innovators, entrepreneurs and creatives. Companies will be awarded across five industry categories: digital media/entertainment; health care; social enterprise/sustainability; technology; and products/services.

Future Vision Energy was nominated in the Social Enterprise/Sustainability category.

The Nashville Business Journal solicited nominees who are leading changes in Sumner County. My name was nominated for my work in energy efficiency for companies an enterprise located in Sumner County, Tennessee.

I had the honor of being named the 2014 "Rising Star" among the hundreds of entrepreneurs who avail themselves of the services of the TNSBDC. I was recognized for my success in founding, building, and growing Future Vision Energy to become one of the most-successful energy efficiency consulting and project management firms in North America.

In April 2014, we were presented with the Annual Innovator Award for our commitment and service to the City of Gallatin, Tennessee. Our innovations in energy efficiency were recognized by our peers and leaders in the business community. In the City of Gallatin alone, we have been responsible for helping reduce nearly 8 gigawatt hours of electricity through innovative LED lighting retrofits and HVAC efficiency upgrades.

The Building Green award recognizes innovation in siting, structure design and use, deconstruction and construction techniques, supply chain and materials sourcing, operational efficiency (water use, energy efficiency), longevity, flexibility of use, protecting occupant health and productivity and reduction in overall carbon footprint. This award recognizes projects that further the widespread use and adoption of alternative fuels, conservation strategies, innovative devices or techniques, as well as creation of domestic fuel sources. Nominations may also include projects that increase the energy efficiency of buildings or equipment, the use of environmentally-benign energy production technologies, developing advanced energy technologies, using renewable energy resources or the use of innovative technologies that will reduce dependence upon traditional fossil-fuel-based energy sources.
